Subject: Management consulting for system selection

Customer: OEM / Passenger and freight elevators

A leading OEM of passenger, freight and special elevators engaged RLE to consult its management for the implementation of a new PLM environment.

Term of the project: 6 months

All brand names, product names and abbreviations are the property of their respective companies.

Main target of the PLM implementation is to achieve a seamless data and information flow. The project scope was to compare PLM solutions of two well-known vendors, balance pros and cons and evaluate on behalf of the customer. The solution should be embedded in the already existing IT environment and cover the complete product lifecycle with focus on 3D-CAD, product data management and product documentation.

Within the project RLE consultants set-up system tests and benchmarks, defined test cases and set-up a data process specification for the supposed PLM solution. Based on technical and non-technical criteria of this system selection the results were evaluated and documented.

RLE significantly supported the decision process of the customer’s management based on long-term experience of business process consulting and system selection. As well the know-how of major PLM solutions is key competence in supporting such kind of projects.

The customer obtained a comprehensive, objective and system independent consulting by RLE experts as neutral consultants. Further on the support for defining functional requirements and executing planning and review has been provided out of one hand. Due to this approach and the knowledge of different implementation strategies the management was enabled to make this profound decision.
