Implementation of ENOVIA SmarTeam, PLM consulting, system implementation & user training

SmarTeam is a MS Windows based system out of the ENOVIA-Portfolio from Dassault Systèmes. SmarTeam is offering fast implemented functionalities for product based life cycle management and is optimised for collaborative development.

Use Case: Wind energy
Due to de-centralised development and manufacturing the integration of suppliers and customers is one critical point for project and data management of small wind turbines (KWEA).
PLM Consulting
RLE has chosen the SmarTeam Quick Start Package (QSP). This package included a SmarTeam implementation within ten days based on a pre defined engineering configuration. The implementation was provided by PLM experts of the department ‘Business Services & Consulting’. First step of the system implementation contained a brief as-is analysis and requirements definition for a system environment including CATIA V5 as CAD authoring tool.
System Implementation
The implementation contained the installation of ENOVIA SmarTeam on a dedicated server and 15 user clients, the CATIA V5 R19 environment was customised due to the requirements definition. Further on the MS Office-Integration offers product-related documentation.
User Training
A customised one-day-training – based on proven RLE training material – introduced the user access to all information during product development; it provides working practices to create and modify CAD models and to create product structures in cooperation with CATIA V5.
Frequent post-implementation feedback sessions guarantee a regular user and system support.
Value for the customer
ENOVIA SmarTeam is allowing a quick and scalable access to transparent and also reliable management of product information, changes can easily be realised by all project members. The cooperation between the development team and further users could be strengthened. The ROI of the existing CATIA V5 environment has been noticeably increased.
Next Steps
It is considered to introduce a system access for external partners via a SmarTeam web interface. To improve the cooperation between development, simulation and manufacturing the modules ‘Workflow’ and ‘BOM’ are planned.
